The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Coordinator, Health Promotions to join our incredible team in the Upper Midwest Region. Working as a member of the Health Promotion & Education team, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

In this role, you will be responsible to coordinate, implement and evaluate the Wisconsin FACT (youth tobacco prevention program) grant.  This position is grant-funded.


  • Work with the program Specialist to develop, implement and evaluate all aspects of training and technical assistance (written resource development, interactive workshops, troubleshooting, varied communication, etc.) for Wisconsin’s statewide youth tobacco prevention advocacy program (FACT) aligned with best practices and Tobacco Prevention and Control Program (TPCP) priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies helping FACT youth communicate their message to peers, community leaders and the media via a variety of outlets (peer-to-peer activism projects, earned print/TV/radio media, grassroots marketing, written or oral testimony, and other educational advocacy opportunities).
  • Address tobacco-related disparities by advancing health equity efforts across all components of the FACT program.
  • Create original multimedia content for social media, e-newsletters and other communication modes with goal of increasing engagement of Wisconsin youth in grades 7 through 12. Incorporate visual and storytelling elements: photos, videos, infographics, etc.
  • Maintain social media editorial calendar for multiple platforms. Research emerging social media platforms, trends, best practices and tools to continuously improve reach. Establishes and tracks metrics linking social media to organizational goals.
  • Write and edit press releases, media advisories, letters to the editor, presentations, and speeches.
  • Coordinate FACT’s incentive program by tracking incentive inventory, shipping incentives to youth members and developing ways to increase target audience engagement through these direct mailings.
  • Build, maintain and cultivate relationships with funders, facilitators, and community partners to encourage program delivery, sustainability, and growth across Wisconsin, including signature American Lung Association programs.
  • Develop and effectively utilize timelines and work plans to ensure completion of program deliverables.
  • Explore opportunities to connect and enhance collaborations throughout the Lung Association.
  • Contribute to quarterly progress reports and monthly reporting of grant activities.
  • Provide outreach and programmatic support for the Wisconsin office events.
  • Serve on workgroups and committees as requested by ALA or TPCP.
  • Select and participate in local, state and national seminars and courses designed to increase skills and knowledge related to job requirements.


  • Associate degree or higher in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience related to areas of public health, communications, advocacy, or youth development; experience may include internships.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Must have exceptional presentation skills including using virtual communication platforms (i.e. Zoom).
  • Ability to multitask in a faced paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs.
  • Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population. Able to work cooperatively with both adult and youth constituents.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
