The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Manager, Health Promotions to join our incredible team in the Upper Midwest Region. Working as a member of the Health Promotion & Education team, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and monitoring of evidence-based initiatives to ensure the delivery of comprehensive asthma control services and clinic-based quality improvement efforts throughout Illinois and beyond.  This position is grant-funded.

Responsibilities

  • Develop collaborative relationships with primary care clinics to engage in asthma-related quality improvement activities
  • Provide lung health trainings to health care professionals
  • Serve as a technical resource for primary care clinics using the American Lung Association’s proven model for asthma quality improvement 
  • Manage multi-market professional education courses, presentations, and trainings
  • Ensure program quality, performance, and effectiveness including data collection activities and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with other key staff members, partners, and organizations working to
    expand comprehensive asthma control services.
  • Serve on ALA’s regional and national workgroups as requested.
  • Develop and submit timely reports as required by the Association and funding sources.
  • Build, maintain, and cultivate relationships with funders, facilitators, and community partners to encourage program delivery, sustainability, and growth in service territory, including Association signature programs where applicable.
  • Select and participate in local, state, and national seminars and courses designed to increase skills and knowledge related to job requirements.
  • Participate in and support all area events and perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Respiratory therapist, public health nurse, or college degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Health Communication, or related field.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Requires 3-5 years of experience in project management and health education programming, implementation, and evaluation
  • Experience in strategic partnerships, health care quality improvement, professional training, and technical assistance preferred
  • Superb organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to multitask in fast paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license.
  • May be required to travel statewide for providing technical assistance, meetings and conferences as required by assigned grants.
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs.
