Comprehensive biomarker testing allows doctors to identify abnormalities in a cell’s DNA, which helps healthcare providers determine the best course of treatment for patients. This is a huge advancement in technology and treatment.

While we know that biomarker testing is important for those with cancer, many individuals may still struggle to get coverage for these tests from their health insurance. Many patients who should receive biomarker testing may be unable to do so because of insurance coverage restrictions or high out-of-pocket costs.

Increasing coverage of comprehensive biomarker testing will improve health equity and make cancer and chronic disease care more affordable and accessible for patients.
