Cheryl S., AR

I dedicated over 20 years to nursing, proudly serving in various roles from ICU to hospice care. Now retired due to disability, I remain passionate about health and advocacy.

Years ago, I discovered that I was severely allergic to latex—something I learned alongside my husband. Over time, I also realized I had severe allergic reactions to cigarette smoke and other airborne pollutants from substances people smoke. These pollutants not only affect outdoor air but also infiltrate indoor spaces, including apartments, hotels, and even my vehicle through its vents.

Unfortunately, exposure has led to numerous emergency room visits, with severe breathing difficulties—at times, my breath has felt almost nonexistent. Allergic reactions are far from pleasant, and I have never engaged in or desired to participate in these activities.

Before my nursing career, I proudly served in the military and am now a Disabled Army Veteran. My hope is to make a difference by advocating for cleaner air and a healthier environment for all.
