Americans spend about 90% of their time indoors, where the air can be 2-5 times, even up to 100 times, more polluted than outdoor air. Indoor air pollutants like mold, dust, pet dander, chemicals and radon can cause both short-term and long-term health problems. Poor indoor air quality can impact everyone, especially those living with asthma, COPD or other lung disease because it can worsen lung disease symptoms.

It's critical to ensure that the air we breathe in our homes is as healthy as it can be. Our Lung Health Navigators can help.

What is a Virtual Home Assessment?

A virtual home assessment offers an easy way to check to see if there are things in your home that could be harmful to your health. The assessment is conducted over Zoom or phone by a Lung Health Navigator. During the virtual visit, the Navigator will ask questions about features of the home and who lives in the home.

At the end of the visit, the Lung Health Navigator will work with you to develop an action plan that outlines steps you can take to improve your home’s indoor air quality.

How to Enroll in a Virtual Home Assessment Program

There are two ways for individuals to enroll in a virtual home assessment program:

  1. Agency Referral – Organizations and clinics serving clients, patients and other members of the community can directly refer participants to a virtual home assessment program. Click on “Complete Interest Form” below and make sure to fill out the agency information section. If you are planning to directly refer an individual,  please make sure to discuss the program with them and get their permission first.
  2. Direct Enrollment – If you’re interested in enrolling yourself or a member of your household directly, start by reviewing our existing programs to determine if your household is currently eligible for a virtual home assessment. Next, click “Complete an Interest Form” below and choose the program you’re interested in. You do not need to complete the agency information section.

Next Steps: Following enrollment, a Lung Health Navigator will reach out to get additional information and determine eligibility.  If you are eligible for services, they will set up a time for the virtual home assessment. After this initial call, a Lung Health Navigator will send you some materials to help you prepare for your virtual home assessment. At the chosen date and time, a Lung Health Navigator will contact you via your preferred communication method to conduct your virtual home assessment.
