My mother, Valerie, passed away in July 2024 after a 16-month battle with lung cancer. After her first round of chemotherapy and radiation in June 2023, she started feeling better and was in remission until April 2024. That was when she was told her lung cancer had returned and spread to a part of her brain. Despite countless chemo and radiation sessions, as well as brain surgery, she never complained or showed fear. She was always a warrior.

My mom was my best friend, and calling her death heartbreaking is the understatement of a lifetime. I vow to advocate for lung cancer awareness and do my part to spread the word, even taking a more hands-on approach. I am currently creating a blog as my way of raising awareness for lung cancer and offering grief support.
