Being diagnosed with Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer in December, 2011, I thought I was given a death sentence. Through the VA hospital in Indianapolis and my doctors, I was given a second chance. Through treatment of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, my tumor is almost non-detectable. My wife, my family, my faith, and my friends have helped me cope. I have cancer, but cancer doesn't have me. I thank God for my life every day and I am thankful for the many nurses, researchers, doctors and support staff who help fight this disease and search for a cure.
