Geri D., PA

I was scheduled for a lung screening that was cancelled in Spring 2020 because of COVID-19. Around November of 2020 the hospital called and said they were rescheduling the screenings.

Thank God! My lung screen detected a small 'spot'. I had a bipopsy which detected a small spot as well. The spot was located on scar tissue from a previous lung surgeryfrom six years ago. My pulmonologist was adamant that we go the surgical route even though 'technically' it was nothing major.

Well it turned out to be adenocarcinoma growing on the scar. The surgeon removed my right lower lobe. I opted to have the entire lobe removed just to be on the safe side.

To my joy, the lesion was small enough that I did not require chemo or radiation. It was 1A2.

This was 2/13/2021. The recovery is a long one but thank God I had that scan, and in a way the COVID delay was a blessing because it may not have shown up when they originally wanted me to have it. This scan is the new mammogram. It saved my life!
