My sister's mother was diagnosed with lung cancer last year (2015) and passed this month (August 2016).
Early detection is important to me because it can truly save lives for a person to have the opportunity to have adequate chemo and radiation treatments. First and foremost, it is important to have a physician that can refer to a patient's chart prior to each visit and encourage patients to get screened for cancer and catch the signs and symptoms early on.
Had she had a physician that did such and referred her to an oncologist, I believe her chance of survival would have increased. May she rest in peace.
