I am 76 years old and have had hypersensitive pneumonitis for the past three years. Due to that lung disease, I have CT scans and the last showed a nodule had grown rapidly. A biopsy showed small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma. Seeing oncologist, radiology oncologist, thorasic surgeon (don't think they will be able to take additional biopsies of nodes due to my breathing problems?). I am told five intense sessions of radiation to chest followed in three months of more sessions to my complete brain as a cautionary move. I may also have chemo with the radiation initially, but they should be decided by the end of the week. I had thyroid cancer, numerous surgeries and I didn't flinch, but now I am overwhelmed.
