In 2014, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. I took to finding a way I could deal with this news. Supporting mom and the family obviously was first and foremost, but I also had a calling to use this unfortunate situation as a way to look beyond the misfortune. I was always intrigued by riding a bike across Maine, and when an intro event at LL Bean was promoting the event, I decided to go check it out.
Following that event, I decided to sign up and buy a bike and the rest was history. I have now participated in three Treks Across Maine and with the help of loving family and friends I have been able to raise over $6,000 for the American Lung Association. At last year's event, ALA asked if I would share my story, and why I participate in the Trek.
You will see part of it in my video story posted below.
