I started my double lung transplant story in 2016. I was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2006. In 2016, I finally got my call for my transplant. I received my new lungs on Dec. 6, 2016. I was listed on a Friday and got my call that following Monday.
I am a divorced mom with two daughters. It was very hard trying to raise two daughters while being sick and on oxygen. I can never thank my donor and their family enough. The transplant opportunity and the love and care of donors have given me a whole new life.
I am now able to enjoy life to the fullest. I am able to do things again with my daughters. With God, the doctors, my donor, the opportunity to receive new lungs with a transplant, and the love of my family, I have my life again.
