Jamie L. Garfield, M.D., is a Professor of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery at the Temple Lung Center at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. The Temple Lung Center is the premiere high-volume lung center in the Philadelphia region, a national hub of lung disease research, and one of the busiest programs in the country for patients with advanced lung disease.
Supplementing her clinical expertise in tobacco use and dependence, tobacco cessation, youth vaping, lung cancer, screening, lung nodules, and advanced bronchoscopy, her practice serves general pulmonary patients with diagnoses such as COPD, asthma, cough, occupational lung disease, and interstitial lung disease. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada. She completed her residency training in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and her fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care at Temple University Hospital. She belongs to numerous professional societies including the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. Dr. Garfield identifies as LGBTQ and has strong interests in improving heath disparities for LGBTQ people and other marginalized groups, especially disparities relating to tobacco use, dependence, and cessation.
