The American Lung Association in New York proudly welcomed Cipla, a leading global pharmaceutical company, back in its third year of partnership for the LUNG FORCE Walk New York City. As this year’s Breathe Free Sponsor, Cipla made history by leading the largest team ever to participate in the NYC walk. With 108 registered walkers having raised over $10,000, the Cipla partnership is a testament to the company’s commitment to ‘Caring for Life’ and its leadership in respiratory health.
Held on Saturday, May 17 at South Street Seaport’s Pier 16, the event drew over 1,100 walkers on 105 teams and raised more than $272,000 in support of lung health research, education, and advocacy. The walk also honored Dr. Christine Garcia of Weill Cornell Medicine, a leading voice in lung cancer care.
Cipla has a long-standing commitment to advancing access to high-quality and innovative medications — especially in the areas of asthma, COPD, pulmonary infections, and oncology-related lung conditions. Cipla’s presence at the walk demonstrates its humanitarian approach to healthcare and broader mission of enabling healthier lives through both science and community action.
“Cipla USA is proud to continue its partnership with the American Lung Association for the LUNG FORCE Walk NYC,” said Marc Falkin, CEO- Cipla North America. “As we work to drive innovation and improve access to treatments for lung conditions, we recognize how essential community education, research and advocacy are to long-term respiratory health. We’re honored to support an event that brings people together to breathe better and live better.”
“We’re incredibly grateful to Cipla for their continued partnership and for leading the largest team in Walk NYC history,” said Erica Masin, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Metro New York. “Cipla’s support helps power every part of this event — from lifesaving research to community education — and allows us to reach more families impacted by lung disease with the resources and hope they deserve.”
The morning featured scenic 1-mile and 3-mile walk routes along the East River, an inspiring opening ceremony with LUNG FORCE Heroes, and a post-walk “Party on the Pier” filled with music, wellness activities, and community celebration.
Funds raised will fuel the Lung Association’s work to fight lung cancer, reduce the burden of chronic lung diseases, and promote cleaner air and stronger respiratory health across the country.
