Riders Raise More Than $125K at 4th Annual Gulf Coast Bike Trek in Dunedin

Funds raised will help Florida residents with lung disease

Nearly 160 people pedaled with a purpose in the American Lung Association’s 4th Annual Gulf Coast Bike Trek along the Pinellas Trail. Cyclists of all ages and experience levels rolled through the Pinellas Trail and surrounding Dunedin on one of three courses: a 10-mile family ride, a 25-mile ride, a 40-mile ride or a 62-mile ride to raise $125,000. The family-friendly event helps raise awareness plus improve lung health and air quality across Florida.

“I am grateful to every rider and spectator who joined us today and proud that, together as a community, we celebrated those impacted by lung disease while helping advance the fight against lung cancer, the nation’s leading cause of cancer deaths,” said Steven Riddle, executive director of the American Lung Association in Greater Tampa. “Together, we raised more than $125,000 in critical funds to help save lives and improve lung health, because if you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.”

Funds raised today will help the 2.8 million Floridians living with lung disease.

The Lung Association looks forward to next year’s Gulf Coast Bike Trek and to continuing its commitment to improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
