Voters Send Strong Message that Groundbreaking Climate Act Benefits the Health of All Washington Families as Initiative 2117 is Defeated

Tonight, Washington voters clearly indicated that Washington is on the right path to lessen climate impacts in the Evergreen state. This vote ensures Washington's landmark climate law remains in place to benefit everyone living in Washington. The Climate Commitment Act is designed to cut carbon pollution and invest in clean air, transportation and protect our farms and forests. Carrie Nyssen, Senior Director of  Advocacy for the American Lung Association in Washington offered the following comments after the initiative was officially defeated this evening:

“The American Lung Association applauds the will of the voters who recognize the importance of taking bold steps to protect our air and our public health,” said Nyssen. “The Climate Protection Act will continue to ensure Washington’s air is clean and residents will be healthier for generations come.”
