As an adult in the 1970's, I moved from a fresh air environment in Massachusetts to Los Angeles County in the San Gabriel Valley East of the Los Angeles Basin. Within two years I had limitations due to air pollution with chest pain climbing the staircase to my apartment at age 24. Now living in the South Bay area near Torrance, CA for 40+ years, I have had chronic asthma for several years. The fog and refinery issues bring the bad air quality closer to the ground and create havoc with my lungs. I am now 70-years-old and moving again is an option of course, and will eventually be accomplished.
