Embracing Hope: Christy’s Lung Cancer Journey

Given a 2% chance of survival, Christy is now a 17-year lung cancer survivor.

When she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, Christy F. made a choice to tackle the disease by embracing a positive outlook and a determined mindset. Her unwavering faith, positive energy and desire to make a difference became instrumental as she faced lung cancer. As a competitive athlete her whole life, she approached the diagnosis like a competition, focusing on her chance of survival.

According to Christy, “From my husband who accompanies me to every appointment to friends and family who regularly reach out with support, I cherish the love I’ve been so fortunate to receive.”

Christy’s optimism has led her to consider research as an integral part of the journey, fueling her desire to be part of finding a cure. Over the past 17 years, she has participated in various clinical trials. Upon learning the lung cancer survival rate has increased by over 50% in the past decade, Christy feels a proud sense of satisfaction, “It makes me happy to know I’ve played a role in this progress.”
