Despite the challenges associated with the pandemic, we have been able to make progress on the experiments outlined in this proposal. When the grant was first awarded, the lab was generally functional due to combination of continued masking and increased community-wide vaccinations. The Omicron wave in early 2022 led to renewed restrictions (for example, many presentations had to return to a virtual format). Individual work at the bench was able to largely continue, although of course many people in our institute had to quarantine at various points due to the highly infectious nature of Omicron.
Update: We have made progress testing novel targeted therapeutic strategies for a unique type of lung cancer called invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma. We have also developed new experimental models and tools that will enable us to pursue the goals of this proposal.
