Jenna Zaffino:
In this meditation, we explore the act of grounding energetically so that we may have a more centered place from which to live our life Begin in a seated position, feet flat on the floor or crisscrossed underneath you Take a deep breath in and feel the space come into your body. Allow your spine to lift up in response to your breath. And as you exhale, simply feel the weight of your hips and legs the ever changing world we live in and serves as a beautiful access point from which to find our center, create space, and shift our energy towards a more desired state of being. Consider the full length of your spine from the tip of your tail all the way up to the crown of your head. Visualize the energy that lies between these two beautiful points. What are the colors, feelings, textures, and sensations that come to mind when you think of this beautiful architecture that allows us to sit and stand and move throughout our day. Allow yourself to enjoy feeling the capabilities that your spine offers you, the connection to the ground and the connection to the sky above. As you breathe in, allow the air to travel from your nose all the way down towards your sits bones, reaching deeper into your seat.
And as you breathe out, allow a feeling of lightness, weightlessness to exist within your body. Consider how much space is possible without exerting effort. Find the cadence and cycling of the breath that works for you. Feel each breath enter into your body as an invited guest, and each exhalation as a reminder of another visit to come. As we sit and breathe and consider the length of our beautiful spine, we'll begin to reach this energy down deeper through the surface of the object we're sitting on, through the earth below us, through the soil, through the rock, connecting us deeply to this earth. With each inhalation, feel your energy reach beyond the tip of your tail. Weighted heavily with a comfortable sense of connection to the earth beneath you and a sense of freedom from your spine up through the crown of your head This energetic line serves as a grounding cord and can be accessed at any time simply by calling on the breath and remembering the energy that is possible. As you energetically tether yourself to this earth, how much freedom are you able to experience through your spine and up and out through the crown of your head.
How much space is possible? How much exploration? Can you sense the lightness that the sensation of grounding offers us? Through the weight of this energetic cord, we are allowed to float, knowing that when we need to come back to center, we are connected. Breathe in and sense that connection. Breathe out and enjoy the weightlessness that occurs throughout the center of your body. Visualize the elements that are most important for you to connect with. Perhaps it's source energy. Perhaps Perhaps it is the earth and mother nature herself. Perhaps it's simply allowing yourself to take a break and let it go. Breathe into the sensation that you most desire.
Establish a connection with the element that offers you the most comfort, and enjoy the act of floating in this connection. As you move throughout your day, navigating through the various distractions and shiny objects You may become uprooted. Remember that that sense of grounding and connection is simply a breath away. Remember that you have everything you need. Remember this connection. Continue to breathe for the next few moments and enjoy the sense of grounding. Take a deep breath in and release. Slowly feel the cord recoiling back into the connection with your own body, leaving behind it a memory of the calm, grounded sensation you've experienced.
Feel the space that still occurs through the center of your body, and consider how you would like to take that space with you today. How will you care for that space? How will you remember to connect to the energy that allows you to feel centered and focused, supported, and free? Continue to breathe for the next few moments, taking the time to consider the support you'll offer yourself today. Take a deep breath in and release. Remember that at any point during your day, you can come back into this sensation. Try to practice this meditation at least 3 times this week, and cultivate the practice of your grounding cord connection. Take one more breath in and release. As you complete this exercise, be sure to write down your thoughts, feelings, and discoveries in your journal. When you're ready, open your eyes.
