For 10 years, LUNG FORCE Heroes have been coming to Washington to advocate for policies that lead to us defeating lung cancer. And our Heroes, individuals whose lives have been touched by lung cancer, are making a difference!
The lung cancer survival rate has increased by 44% over the past 10 years thanks in part to better early detection for those at greatest risk for lung cancer, treatment advances and increased access to care. This year is more important than ever as proposed federal cuts and policy changes threaten lung cancer research at the NIH, prevention efforts at CDC and Medicaid, which provides healthcare coverage for one in four lung cancer patients.
During the 2025 LUNG FORCE Advocacy Day (April 9, 2025), our Heroes will come together in Washington D.C. to ask members of Congress to protect lifesaving research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), critical public health prevention and protections at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Medicaid health coverage. You can support the efforts of our LUNG FORCE Heroes by following three steps:
#1 Call Your Senators and Representative
- Call your three members of Congress and reiterate the asks made by our LUNG FORCE Heroes. We will have a simple script available that you can use to guide your conversation and make an impact! You can find your members of Congress using this tool.
#2 Send an Email to Congress
- Tell your Senators and Representative in Washington, D.C., that we need lifesaving research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), critical public health prevention and protections at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Medicaid health coverage. We’ve drafted an email to Congress; all you need to do is fill out your info and send!
