Tobacco Cessation Coverage & Health Systems Change

Lessons on the Cancer Center Cessation Initiative

The American Lung Association’s Tobacco Cessation Coverage and Health Systems Change Technical Assistance Teams hosted a learning cohort in light of best practices coming out of the Cancer Center Cessation Initiative (C3I) and because tobacco cessation improves cancer outcomes. This cohort series took place over three meetings in February 2024, and was primarily designed to support tobacco control program staff working to improve tobacco cessation coverage, enhance capacity and implement health systems changes to increase evidence-based cessation in community cancer center settings. Other public health professionals, clinicians and health system staff can also benefit from the lessons learned in this initiative. For more background information, please see the National Cancer Institute’s page on the Cancer Center Cessation Initiative

To learn about the information shared in the cohort, including how to take best practices to the field, please review the recordings, resources and presentations below.

If you have any questions related to tobacco cessation coverage or health systems change, or if you require technical assistance, please email CessationTA@Lung.org.
