The Baylor Airways Clinical Research Center (ACRC) is located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. Adult asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients are seen at Baylor Asthma and COPD Clinic, a state of the art outpatient facility, and at the Smith Clinic's Asthma and COPD clinic, affiliated with the Harris Health System, which serves indigent population of Harris County, Texas. Pediatric asthma patients are seen at the Asthma Clinic of Texas Children's Hospital, the premier children's hospital in Houston which also houses the Pediatric ACRC.

The ACRC center is staffed by three full time coordinators trained in conducting asthma and COPD studies. In addition, several adult and pediatric pulmonary specialists serve as co-investigators on clinical trials conducted at the Center. Over the last 18 years, the Center has conducted and completed several multicenter asthma and COPD clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health, American Lung Association and industry. In addition, the Center has also collaborated with colleagues at the Texas Children's Asthma Center in conducting ongoing pediatric asthma studies.
