The American Lung Association ACRC Data Coordinating Center (DCC) is directed by Robert Wise, MD and Janet Holbrook, PhD, both of whom were founding members of the ACRC. The DCC is located in the Johns Hopkins Coordinating Centers group in the Department of Epidemiology in the Bloomberg School of Public Health (BSPH) of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. Wise is an internationally recognized expert on COPD, asthma and research on respiratory diseases. Dr. Holbrook is an epidemiologist who has over 25 years of experience in the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials and teaches on the subject at Johns Hopkins. The DCC staff includes faculty and staff with expertise in biostatistics, information technology, clinical research and study logistics.

Dr. Wise and the DCC staff have been integral to the ACRC success designing and completing 15 studies with over 6,000 participants since the network was founded in 1999. These studies are focused on addressing questions that are directly relevant to patients, their families and healthcare providers. The DCC works with clinical site investigators to identify pressing clinical questions, design studies that provide rigorous, unbiased medical evidence and compete successfully for funding from government and private funding agencies. The combination of clinical and methodological expertise at the DCC along with the outstanding clinical centers has resulted in the ACRC network being a leader in the conduct of comparative effectiveness research for airway disease.
