National Jewish is a non-profit medical and research center with a 115-year history of specializing in respiratory disorders and has been ranked for its excellence in respiratory care by U.S. News & World Report for the past 12 years and is now partnered with Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine for a jointly run respiratory institute in New York City. The asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) programs are internationally recognized both from a clinical and research standpoint. Our faculty, including our partners at Mount Sinai, have extensive research experience funded through the American Lung Association, National Institutes of Health, Food and Drug Administration, private industry and foundations. Our investigators collectively have hundreds of highly recognized original publications and book chapters. Our mission is to drive continuous cutting edge science and research while driving innovation through basic, translational and clinical studies that expand biomedical knowledge and lead to the development of new diagnostics and improve patient care.

National Jewish has participated in over 400 clinical trials, primarily in the fields of asthma, allergy, COPD, urticaria, sleep disorders, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and obesity. The clinical research facilities are equipped with exam rooms, negative-pressure spirometer rooms, treatment rooms, procedure rooms, a phlebotomy and lab processing area (equipped with both a regular and refrigerated centrifuge), stadiometer, scale, ECG machines, ultra-freezer (-80), and refrigerators. The research environment also includes a fully equipped central laboratory, advanced bio-imaging department, state-of-the-art pulmonary function lab, overnight facilities, recruitment staff that manages a database of over 3000 study patients, clinical trial regulatory and financial specialist. Our joint mission with Mount Sinai is developing similar capacity and together we will form one of the premier research partnerships for cutting edge science.
